So I have decided to roll back driver to the one I used before and music plays but no sound. Ltd I do not know why I have got this problem it quite strange because is just suddenly the music has gone; I have done nothing in this computer! Please help me to solve this problem I realy need sound to be back. Please anybody help me to solve this kind of problem, more reply and help from anybody will be very appreciated.

Thank you. XP "update" AC 97 sound drivers don't work! Twice every other year , I've tried them - always had to pull out the original mobo install disk and re-install. I finally "hid" them in Win update so the listing doesn't bug me. My AC 97 sound works fine.

By the way, the headphone jack on the CD player is directly from the CD pre-amp, has nothing to do with computer audio. Put the original drivers from the mobo CD back in. Some modems also have a speaker out next to telco line jack, make sure you're not plugging into that one. Off Numpad is arrow keys.
