Block heater installation anchorage ak

I know nothing about block heaters and how they're installed. I was stationed at Ft Richardson from 83 and most people had some type of engine block heater and battery blanket. Only in the winter. Not in Anchorage. Might want to also change your engine oil with something more suitable for cold weather.

Never hurts to have and not need. I would say yes. They are cheap anyways. Besides that one day when you turn on the motor and it makes that grunting grinding noise without the heater youll be thankful. Also where will you be parking? If its an open area which is windswepped vs, a garage this makes a big difference.

Theres days in Ontario in the winter when you will need one, and your much farther north. It wouldnt hurt, but you won't need it after you figure things out. Forget starting a vehicle without an engine heater in those temperatures. Don't screw around, it gets COLD. Not as cold as Fairbanks, but damn sure cold enough for a engine heater. Besides its a heck of a lot easier on the cars for the lousy hundred bucks it'll cost to have someone put it in if you can't DIY Personal recommendation And change the engine oil to a FULL synthetic in proper grade for your car.

Trust me, you'll be thankfull if you do and kicking your own ass come middle of winter if you dont!! Thanks guys. I plan on getting one anyway, just wondering what's gonna happen the days I can't get a spot with an outlet. I live in the barracks and probably will for a while still.

Anything else I can or should do? My truck is my baby I wanna take as good of care of it as possible! Edited for spelling.

I'm posting from a phone! I do plug my Silverado in at home in the garage, it warms up alot quicker. I dont have that option at work and have yet to have it not fire right up, just takes a while longer to get heat to blow. I dont even use one and I live in Denver and work in the Rockies. I have plugged my truck in in N. ETA: I didnt read the last warm air in a couple minutes part. Please register to post and access all features of our very popular forum. It is free and quick.
