Enable dhcp vista ics

When you enable ICS on the sharing tab for the wan adapter, it sets the IP address of the lan adapter to Where the problem lies is in vista's new "network and sharing center". Usually, when a new network connection is established, the wonderfull network and sharing center pops up and says, hey Now, if you understand Vista and basic networking This can be changed to Private by modifying this profile in network and sharing center.

The problem there is that you cannot rename the connection the field is there and appears to allow data entry but vista will not let you delete the name currently in the box, unidentified network ; also, after a reboot, this setting will return to "public" status.

I have tried excluding the LAN NIC from the firewall in control pannel, firewall settings, remove check mark next to the nic that you want to be exempt from firewall although this has no affect. I could disable windows firewall completely, download aftermarket firewall, and exclude LAN adapter, but there are 2 issues with that, who's to say that the network and sharing center rules or profiles aren't just going to 'over-rule' that firewall as well, similar to the results with the windows firewall.
